When you cook with alcohol like wine for example,................?

do the alcoholic benefits go away or do they remain?? Like if you put enough wine in the stew but boil it forever, could you get drunk?? Does anyone know for sure?

the alcohol cooks off unless you add it %26#039;after%26#039; cooking. it%26#039;s just the flavor, that%26#039;s why you want to use something you like the taste of.

1/ Health benefits of wine:

The benefits of wine is the antioxidants and phenols, not the alcohol... so I would imagine a little of the benefits remain, but the heat will destroy a majority of the benefits.

2/ Alcohol burns away?

Contrary to popular belief... Alcohol does NOT cook out 100% you will always have some residual amount, even if you stew for 3 hours. However, the amount of alcohol remaining is dependent upon how much you used in the first place.

3/ Can you get drunk?

Unlikely... since most recipe call for a cup or two of alcohol to be added to a larger amount of food and liquid (which dilutes the wine) so you get less alcohol per serving. Also, cooking reduces the alcohol content... by the time you eat the food, you%26#039;ll end up with less than 1/2 teaspoon of alcohol in each serving.

When cooking with wine, most of the alcohol burns or evaporates away. Very slim possibility of getting drunk while eating a dish made with wine. The flavor of the wine is the real benefit to meals.

Alcohol evaporates very quickly when exposed to heat. The taste will remain, but if you want to catch a buzz, save some of the wine to have with dinner.

Usually the heat will burn off the alcohol. You%26#039;ll retain the taste benefits, but the alcoholic effects are burned off with heat.

no on boiling alcohol in a stew the alcoholic property don%26#039;t go away. but if u give wine in a stew and over boil it u may loose the flavour of the wine.

if you heat the alcohol you are gaining flavor but losing the actually content of the alcohol...it wont make you drunk as long as its cooked

ALCOHOL BURN OUT COMPLETELY , NOW YOU ARE LEFT WITH TRUE FLAVORS.

TRY CABERNET IN ANY RED MEAT COOKING , AWESOME FLAVOR AS COMPARED TO JUST DRINKING IT

You can%26#039;t get drunk because the alcohol cooks away and evaporates.

Alcohol boils off at 78 degrees, so it you get it up to waters boiling point at 100 degrees for any length of time, then all the alcohol will have evaporated.

Alcoholic benefits would go away.

You would not get drunk.

Very sure.

No while you are cooking the wine the alcohol burns out so at the end there is no alcohol in it so no one can get drunk

depends how much stew you will eat, but after boiling it for prolonged period there wont be any alcohol left in there since alcohols booiling point is around 78 degrees

No, there is no alcohol after cook it, but in a salad, yes, there is still some

no it cooks away. if you want to get drunk drink it don%26#039;t put it in soup.

No otherwise my kids would be alcoholics

Most if not all of it.
