Since dry ice is toxic if you swallow it and will burn you if you touch it?

Why is it added to drinks for dramatic effect? It has to be removed from the drink before the drink can be consumed otherwise the person will have major damage done. But yet it never is removed beforehand. How are people able to do that without causing any bodily damage, even though there are warning labels right and left saying not not put it in food or drink because it is dangerous?

You can drink from a glass with dry ice in it with a few precautions: 1) don't inhale lots of air while the glass is at your lips (lots of CO2); 2) Don't let the ice touch your lips until it has iced over on the outside; Don't swallow any ice.

That said, it's kind of a silly risk to take for the brief fog effect you get...

Yes it can and will burn you.I use to use it for floor tile removal and when it makes contact with your skin for more than a second it burns. Also you don't want to breath the fumes in.I did that once while leaning over scooping dry ice out of the bottom of a big tub.It burns your lungs and it really sucks.

If you touch it it can burn your skin or your skin can stick to it. Very painful.
